This Film is introduced to you by its Lead Producer, Graham Pountney - a UK actor, film and theatre director and producer, a transatlantic sailor and an ex-Class One UK Offshore Powerboat navigator himself.
He met Betty Cook's family while playing the powerboat racer Mark Foster in the BBC TV drama series Howards Way in 1987/8. He has lived with this story, until now.
The film will be distributed as a tribute to, and a celebration of her success; a positive message of female empowerment and an encouragement to everyone battling against bias, prejudice, and seemingly insurmountable difficulties - that it is possible to triumph in the end.
We invite you to help us tell this story, of how a middle-aged woman came to beat the best in (then) a male-dominated, highly dangerous and competitive sport, not once but many times.
